Stories of Women Who Faced an Impossible Decision Under Extreme Circumstances

Story Title

How do you feel about “crisis pregnancy centers?”

“Crisis pregnancy centers” are organizations that advertise themselves as places women can come to in order to explore their options regarding unwanted pregnancies. More often than not, however, they are simply fronts for organizations with a pro-life agenda whose mission is to convince women to either raise the baby or put it up for adoption. They often use tactics that induce shame, fear, and guilt in an effort to get women to avoid abortion at all costs.  These places are often not upfront about the services they provide and some states and municipalites have seen legal challenges to their ability to use such ‘bait-and-switch’ tactics. What do you think?

I think these places have a right to exist and do business, but they should be honest about what they provide. I would support legislation holding them to a "truth in advertising" standard.

Here is a link to an article I found that is trying to expose these centers for what they are. It's scary that they can do business like this and people in crisis believe them. http://www.rhrealitycheck.org/article/2012/04/24/crisis-pregnancy-centers-use-federal-funds-to-promote-religion-discriminate-in-hi
